What is the Best Type of Water to Drink for Health?

The best type of water to drink for health is water that you will actually drink!

Water – Life Can’t Exist Without It!

At a minimum, it should be filtered in some way.  A whole-house water filtration system is great to have and a good benefit when you put it up for sale.  It’s hard to choose the best water for your family because there are so many choices.  We’ll be going over the pros and cons of many of these types of drinking water.  But first, let’s look at why we should be concerned about our drinking water.  Consider these facts:

  • Millions of Americans have become ill from drinking water that has been contaminated with bacteria, viruses, and parasites.
  • Many municipal water systems too often violate basic safety standards.
  • Farmers spray crops with liquefied animal feces onto their crops.  This is a great fertilizer, but it becomes a problem when it seeps into wells and tap water that we end up drinking.

You Wouldn’t Want to See What’s in Tap Water!
  • Cancer-causing chemicals are frequently dumped into our rivers, not to mention the arsenic, lead, nickel, and other heavy metals that cause poisoning.
  • Water-borne diseases are a major problem and one of the leading causes of death around the world.  These diseases can include diarrhea, cholera, malaria, polio, and dysentery.

You get the idea!  We must have clean, pure water to live.  Just as plants need water to survive, every cell in our bodies required good hydration to function.   Water transports nutrients to every part of our bodies and carries away waste material.  Our brains and intestinal systems are especially in need of pure water.  We lose water when we urinate, sweat, and even breathe, and it must be replaced or we end up with chronic dehydration.  Take a look at this infographic showing how much of our human bodies are made up of water:

Very Simply – Our Bodies Cannot Function Without Water!
  • Water lubricates and cushions all our organs, especially bones, joints, and intestines.
  • Water helps your kidneys remove toxins and flush them out.
  • Water helps thin our blood and keeps cells from ‘clumping’ and forming fibrin.
  • Water regulates our temperature to keep from overheating in hot weather.

How Much Water Should You Drink Daily to Lose Weight?

A good rule of thumb is to drink half your weight in ounces daily!    This means that if you weigh 100 pounds, then drink 50 oz. of water every day.  That’s about 6 8-oz. glasses.

Glasses of Lemon Water
Lemon Water Helps Balance Your pH

Most people don’t drink that much water, but it will help you lose weight.   Hint:  I also put about 10-12 drops of silica into my glass of drinking water, because it has no taste and strengthens bones, teeth, and nails.  The best way to drink water is to sip it throughout the day.  Here are several delicious ways to drink more water…

Infuse your water with your favorite fruit by filling your water pitcher with water in the evening – and simply adding your choice of fruit, vegetables, or spices to it.  Refrigerate it and come morning, you’ll have your delicious drinking water for the whole day.  This not only tastes good, but it will be infused with vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals that your body will love you for.  These infusions can also help balance your pH levels.  Want some ideas?

  • A peeled, sliced lemon and a green tea bag in the water for detoxification and cleansing.  You can add a few red pepper flakes in a spice bag for better effect.
  • Half a grapefruit, lemon, and lime with a spoonful of mint leaves will make a great tasting infused water.
    Bottled Drinking Water
Lemon and Lime Water are Wonderful for Balancing pH!
  • A couple of green tea bags with lemon and lime slices and a tablespoon of unfiltered apple cider vinegar.  You could add a spoonful of honey to sweeten if you like.
  • Lemon slices and crushed cranberries?
  • Sliced strawberries, basil leaves, and a couple of pineapple slices taste awesome.
  • Peaches, blueberries, oranges, cucumber, mint…you get the idea.
If you don’t drink all your infused water during 24 hours, then you should remove the food items from the water. The water will still be good to drink for several more days.

The benefits of drinking hot water with honey.  This is another great way to lose weight.   Just make a cup of tea with hot water, lemon, and a spoonful of honey.  This flushes toxins out of your system…helping you lose that stubborn weight.

Does Drinking Water Help Lower Blood Pressure?

Yes, it definitely can!  Drinking a lot of pure water can help thin the blood somewhat, and therefore lowering the blood pressure.  It flushes out toxins and helps the blood cells from forming “fibrin”, which could contribute to blood clots.

You can use water infused with citrus fruit for lowering blood pressure, and it’s so easy to add liquid minerals to the water as well.  Your heart is composed of almost 80% water, so it needs that water to function properly.

Are Aluminum Bottles Safe To Drink From?

Personally, I would prefer to use a stainless steel water bottle.  Aluminum can leach out of aluminum water bottles, so they have to be lined with something.

Choose Stainless Steel!

Many manufacturers claim they are lined with food-grade materials, but who can be sure exactly what the materials are?  Stainless steel is a safer choice.

Any water bottle can harbor nasty germs, so it’s important to remember to wash them frequently!

Speaking of water bottles – The common plastic bottles that water comes in can easily leach plasticizers into the water.  Many of them are stacked in non-air-conditioned warehouses, or even stacked outside grocery and convenience stores.  This heat will cause the leaching to happen faster and stronger.  Even if you get them out of a cooler, who knows where they were stored beforehand?

What is Structured Water?

Benefits of Drinking High pH Water

My personal opinion is that I’m not sure about High pH alkaline water.  It’s not a good idea to drink a lot of it, especially around meals.  Your stomach acid has a very low pH, which is needed to digest food.  Therefore, wouldn’t drinking a high pH drink raise that stomach pH to a level to cause your food not to be digested?

Try to Keep a Good pH Balance in Food and Water!

The same thought follows over to those over-the-counter products to reduce acid reflux.  You certainly don’t want acid reflux, but eliminating it with alkaline pills or drinks isn’t the answer.  It might help with the acid reflux, but the cost is un-digested food, which leads to a whole other set of problems.  You could try about a half-teaspoon of baking soda in a small amount of water right before bedtime to help with reflux.  If this is a problem for you, eating supper early would help tremendously by giving your stomach time to do its work before you go to bed.

In fact, every organ in your body requires a different pH level, and I try to avoid upsetting this balance as much as I can.  You can certainly upset the balance by drinking high-acid drinks like soft drinks, orange juice, etc.  So, avoid soft drinks as much as you can.  The best type of water to drink for health is one that has a neutral pH level of 7, and is filtered to remove as many toxins as possible!  Water is the original lifesaver.

Emergency Drinking Water

We all take water for granted because it’s always there in our tap.  BUT, what if it wasn’t?  What if the power was off for an extended period of time due to a natural disaster or EMP?  What if there was a terrorist event?  These aren’t things that happen everyday, but quickly becomes a life-threatening situation when no water is available.

I bought a house with well water thinking that would provide water, no matter what.  And, to tell you the truth, didn’t think much more about it.  But, one day the electricity went off for several hours, and we had no power AND NO WATER!  It was a wake-up call for me.  Those well pumps won’t work without electricity.

We actually live on a lake, but it’s over 100′ down to the water, so the thought that we could carry water is not viable.  I bought a water tank and filled it up, but in the case of an extended power outage, when it runs out…it runs out!  If you live on a farm, perhaps you have a well.  Many times,  that water is more pure than tap water.

Finally, I ran across this water system (developed by the military) that operates on a condensation principle and creates water out of air.  I wanted to make it available to you, so please determine your water situation if an emergency should occur.  Check this out and see if it would solve your problem…

The Benefits of Drinking Distilled Water

There are many benefits of drinking distilled water.  The distilling process removes everything from the water, and many people that will tell you that it removes necessary minerals.

Make Sure Your Drinking Water is Safe and Healthy!

But, I don’t believe that’s true.  Yes, it does remove the minerals, but they are inorganic minerals…and your body can’t use them in this form.  To be used by your body, minerals must be absorbed into the roots of plants.  Then, by eating the plant, you get the much-needed organic minerals.

My family has used distilled water for many years.  It’s funny that one year I gave my 3 children a water distiller for Christmas.  They looked like they had just received a box of rocks, but 2 of them kept theirs.  (The other one returned it and bought a TV.)  But, once they realized how good the water tasted, they went on to buy new distillers for themselves after many years of use.
